In April 2004 Leonard Carder
partners Lynn Rossman Faris and Beth Ross commenced the
10-week liability phase of trial in a class action lawsuit,
Estrada v. FedEx, in Los Angeles County Superior Court. In
this case, Leonard Carder represents a class of FedEx Ground
Drivers who challenge the sham "independent contractor"
scheme that FedEx uses to circumvent the legal requirement
that drivers be reimbursed for their vehicle expenses, as
well as to evade other laws protecting workers and to avoid
the company's proper tax burden.
